Is NEXICAPTURE free?
The current early-access build is free to download and use, for personal and commercial work. We have not announced any paid plan.
What does "early access" mean?
The app works — recording, editing and export were tested on Windows 11 — but some things are not finished: the installer is not code-signed yet, there are no automatic updates, and online services such as accounts are not available.
Does it work offline?
Yes. Recording, editing and exporting do not need the internet. Only optional AI model downloads and cloud tools that use your own API key go online.
Does it add a watermark?
No. NEXICAPTURE does not add a watermark to your videos.
Can I use my LexiCapture projects?
Yes. NEXICAPTURE opens .lexiproj files as an import — the original file is not changed — and Help › Import from LexiCapture copies downloaded models, fonts and settings. Both apps can stay installed side by side.
Why does Windows show a SmartScreen warning?
The early-access installer is not code-signed yet, so Windows does not recognise the publisher. Check that the SHA-256 checksum matches the one on the download page, then choose More info → Run anyway.
How do I check the SHA-256 checksum?
In PowerShell, run: Get-FileHash .\NEXICAPTURE-Setup-1.0.0.exe — and compare the result with the checksum on the download page.
Which Windows versions are supported?
NEXICAPTURE is for 64-bit Windows. It has been tested on Windows 11. 64-bit Windows 10 is supported by the runtime the app is built on but has not been tested yet.
Do I need administrator rights to install?
No. NEXICAPTURE installs for your Windows user. Uninstalling keeps your settings and data folder.
How do I update?
Automatic updates are not available yet. New versions are published on the download page and in the release notes; install the new version over the old one and your data is kept.
Where are recordings saved?
In Videos\NEXICAPTURE by default. You can choose another folder, or have NEXICAPTURE ask every time.
Can I record computer sound and my voice together?
Yes. Choose system sound, microphone or both before you start.
Is there a time limit?
NEXICAPTURE does not set a time limit; long recordings are limited by your free disk space.
Which files can I edit?
Your recordings, and video files such as MP4, MKV, WebM and MOV, plus photos and audio. Heavy files can be edited with lightweight proxies.
Which formats can I export?
MP4 (H.264 + AAC), animated GIF and MP3, with presets for YouTube, Shorts, TikTok, Reels, Facebook, WhatsApp and e-mail.
Do the AI tools cost anything?
Tools that run on your PC are free; they download their model once. Cloud tools use your own Google, OpenAI or ElevenLabs key, and that company charges according to its own prices.
Does captioning support Sinhala?
Yes, captions work in Sinhala and English. For Sinhala, Google Gemini (with your own key) usually gives the best results.
Are my videos uploaded anywhere?
No. Your recordings and projects stay on your PC. Only a cloud tool you choose to use receives the audio or text it needs, and it goes directly to that company.
Does the app collect usage statistics?
No. NEXICAPTURE does not send usage statistics or analytics.
